Medio planeta Tierra está a la expectativa de lo que será la versión live action de El Rey León, la película animada de Disney que en 1994 ganó dos premios Óscar y dos Globo de Oro. El argumento principal de la historia es basado en el cuento Hamlet, original de William Shakespeare, pero en esta oportunidad se desarrolla en el reino salvaje-animal.
La nueva versión fue dirigida por el neoyorquino Jon Favreu (Iron Man, El libro de la selva) y escrita por Jeff Nathanson (La terminal, Rush Hour). En cuanto el elenco, está lleno de estrellas de Hollywood: el elenco lo encabeza Beyoncé en el papel de Nala, Donald Glover alias Childish Gambino como Simba, Chiwetel Ejiofor interpretará a Scar, Seth Rogen a Pumba y Billie Eichner a Timón.
Música
Desde 2017 se supo que Elton John había firmado para hacer re-composiciones musicales de la película original. Meses después se confirmó que Beyoncé estaría involucrada también en la parte musical y finalmente podemos escuchar su primera creación. Se trata de Spirit, tema estrenado una semana antes del estreno de la cinta escrita por la propia artista, Ilya Salmanzadeh y Timothy McKenzie. La producción corrió por cuenta de Labrith e Illya.
