Creative director Sefton Hill revealed the news on Twitter, noting that they will be “watching as fans” albeit from far away in their London studio.
“Hi all! A number of you have asked so we wanted to let you all know up front that @Rocksteadygames won’t be showing at E3 this year. We’ll be watching as fans but remaining in London, hard at work on our next big project. Enjoy the show!”

Bummer. Better than getting your hopes up though! Their last game was Arkham Knight in 2015, and can you believe it’s been 10 years since Arkham Asylum?

Revered for their handling of superhero royalty, the rumour mill is well and truly spinning about what they could be up to next. There appear to be two major theories – Superman or Justice League.

Superman was shot down by our man Sefton back in late 2018, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t be incorporated as part of a potential Justice League game. One leak suggests it’s known as ‘Outlaws’ and will be a service game developed in collaboration with Epic. Others believe it might be something to do with Suicide Squad thanks to a leaked marketing plan and a sneaky dm from Kotaku’s Jason Schreier. Honestly – it’s all up in the air at this point – the main thing to note is that it doesn’t look like it’s going to focus solely on the caped crusader.

Another rumour suggests that WB Montreal is now working on an Arkham game based on the Court of Owls comic series whilst Rocksteady seeks out something more ambitious. It would make sense, the London team are probably bored of Batman by now – best to keep your eyes peeled during E3 in case we hear anything more about that.
